Our view on CSR

Corporate social responsibility, defined plainly.

The phrase “corporate social responsibility” covers a lot of bad practice. From staged photo-ops to one-time donations to greenwashing, there are a lot of ways of doing corporate social responsibility that are less than satisfying.

Four CSR activities run consistently. Each is below.

Al Ranim Cares doesn’t want to be involved in any of these. We will focus on a few CSR initiatives in Dubai and work with a few partners to ensure that every cent of our effort goes into making a difference.

Hunger relief: India channel partners

We distribute funds to local partners who run meal programmes for underprivileged communities in India.

Education sponsorship

School fees for children via India channel partners

India

Through local partners, we can pay for school fees for disadvantaged children who would otherwise not be able to afford to send their children to school. One Dubai brokerage commission can pay for a year of school for several children.

Greening initiative

Tree planting on barren land

India

Last year, we planted trees on a barren land stretch in India. The idea was simple: to take a patch of land that had nothing growing on it and to turn it green over time. Currently, the saplings have taken root and are doing well, and the land is beginning to come alive again. This initiative, while small, does take us a step closer to having a greener neighbourhood, something we will continue to work on as the trees grow.
